Our Plans

For the 2019-20 school year, we will offer programs for students ages 2 years to Grade 3. We also offer caregiver/child playgroups.

Our strategic plan is to grow from preschool-age all the way through high school, by adding a grade or mixed-grades program each year. We are looking forward to high school, where all of the academics and arts training start to overlap and blend together for a truly rewarding educational experience.

We are growing a community.

Blackland Prairie’s mixed-age kindergarten program is typical of nature- and art-based early childhood, with time spent indoors and outdoors, in both rain and shine. We provide practical activities, like cooking, gardening, and daily chores. Valuable experiences, like stories, circle time, arts, and, most importantly, self-directed play are a part of each day.

Our grades program includes thematic content design, and seminar/main lesson blocks. Students participate in outdoor programming and integrated arts.

Our integrated arts educators and curators provide provocations, special projects and frameworks once or twice a week. Students have the opportunity to explore and express their viewpoints by utilizing visual arts, performing arts, agricultural arts,  and practical arts.

We also celebrate festivals together as a community, and we cultivate a space in which families come together with a commitment to honoring the truly special time that is childhood.
